The Country Basketball League mid-season break has been both a help and a hindrance to Colac’s senior representative side.
The three weeks off over Christmas and New Year’s gave sore Kookas such as playing coach Justin Williamson time to overcome injuries.
But Williamson, who recovered from a calf strain, said three weeks without training had hurt the improving side.
The Kookas lost their sixth game for the season on Saturday night, dropping them to the bottom of the south-west conference ladder.
The loss came at the hands of Portland to the tune of 30 points, 48-78, and followed a three-hour roadtrip west of Colac.
The Kookas will get another break with a bye this weekend, before meeting Portland at home in a fortnight.
