Fire experts have helped Colac and district people develop bushfire survival plans.

The State Government’s FireReady Road Show drove into Colac and Forrest on Monday as part of its tour of Victoria’s high-risk bushfire areas.

Wet weather failed to stop Country Fire Authority volunteers, Colac Otway Shire Council workers and government representatives from discussing bushfire prevention with people at Colac’s Memorial Square.

FireReady experts discussed fire risks and preparing properties and gave kits to help people develop their bushfire plans.

The information also included Colac Otway Shire’s township protection plan and advice on a new fire danger rating system.

Bushfire Response Minister Peter Ryan was absent from proceedings, but said he planned to visit at least 43 of the state’s 52 high-risk bushfire towns before the end of next month.
