COLAC and district footballers will again make up a large proportion of the Hampden region’s squad that will take on the state.
Officials selected nine players for the second consecutive year to play in the V-Line Cup, an under-15 schoolboys championship in Melbourne.
Played over three days, the round-robin style competition with more than 500 competitors across four divisions is the elite under-15 Victorian Country Football League championship for the top junior players.
Birregurra’s Zac Day and Lewis Melican, Irrewarra-Beeac’s Chris Dunne, Simpson’s 2010 league best and fairest Chester Gardner, Alvie’s Tyler Murnane and Colac Tigers Steven Presani, Josh Woods, Josh Sutherland and Dylan Hodge, who played in the squad’s Division Two championship last year, will play with the team after impressing selectors at trial games.
Squad development manager Alan Thompson said Colac had proved itself a strong football region during his time with the program.
Players will attend a jumper presentation night at Cobden next Wednesday, before the cup kicks off on Saturday, April 9.
