Police cracking down on boozers

Police will clamp down on drunken behaviour in Colac.

POLICE say they will fine people immediately for alcohol-related offences as part of a crackdown on anti-social behaviour in Colac.

Police officers gave 22 infringement notices to revellers in Colac for publically consuming alcohol on Friday and Saturday nights.

Each notice came with a $130 fine.

Sergeant Nick Buenen said officers would not hesitate giving out on-the-spot fines.

Meanwhile, mobile speed cameras are out in force at six Colac and district locations this week.

The State Government’s weekly list of mobile speed camera locations features two Colac streets, Gravesend and Moore.

Locations west of Colac include the Princes Highway at Pomborneit, Cobden-Camperdown Road at Cobden and in Manifold Street, Camperdown.

The Great Ocean Road at Lorne also has a mobile speed camera.
