Veterans prepare for new season

Colac Super Rules footballers Chris Egan, Maurie Parsons and Paul Kerr are preparing for the Colac Panthers’ first match of the season against Geelong on Sunday.

COLAC’S most senior football team is out to improve on its 2010 result when the veterans’ season kicks off this weekend.

The Colac Panthers will contest their first Super Rules match of the Victorian Country Masters Australian Football League against Geelong on Sunday.

Birregurra’s Andrew Hinds will coach the Panthers this season.

Club president and player Chris Egan said the club was still on the lookout for players who fit the 35-and-over age bracket.

The Panthers play in the Masters AFL League – an 11-round competition where veteran players play every second week at grounds across Victoria.

Colac will play their homes games at Beeac.

Egan said all signs were looking good ahead of round one, with hopes to improve on Colac’s two wins in season 2010.

Interested players can contact Egan at BAE Automation And Electrical Services, Colac.
