THE State Government could add more Colac district towns to its list of high-risk bushfire areas.
Colac Otway Shire has eight of the 52 Victorian towns the government considers most at threat from bushfires.
Those towns are Barongarook, Kawarren, Carlisle River, Forrest, Lavers Hill, Barwon Downs, Wye River and Marengo.
But the government is set to announce a further round of high-risk towns next week.
Country Fire Authority district six operations manager Malcolm Fallon said the government was constantly reviewing its list of bushfire hotspots.
“We don’t know what will be included on the list, it could be Gellibrand but we’ll have to wait and see,” Mr Fallon said.
“The list helps the development of township protection plans for those high-risk areas,” he said.
