Town rallies for Good Friday appeal

Beeac's Dick Lee, Robyn Philp, Lucy Richardson and her children Sophie and Lachlan promote the town's Good Friday appeal.

THE Easter Bunny will hop by Beeac on Friday to help raise money for a children’s hospital.

Beeac will have its second annual community day for Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Committee member Lucy Richardson said community support had already boosted the group’s tally to over $2000.

“Everybody’s been fantastic, we’ve had three dinners at the Beeac pub which has been very well-supported,” Mrs Richardson said.

“All of the local businesses have showed enormous support as well so we’re in a really good position before Good Friday,” she said.

Mrs Richardson said the appeal was an opportunity for families from across the district to gather.

“Obviously the aim is to raise money for the hospital but it’s also just a good day to get together, Good Friday is one of the only days where 90 per cent of the community aren’t working,” Mrs Richardson said.

“So this way they can come down and enjoy the day with their families and friends.

“There’ll be heaps of activities including a jumping castle, merry-go-round, Segways, a motorbike course, free magic shows, face painting and horses,” she said.

“And of course we’ll have the Easter Bunny there to help with the Easter egg hunt as well as Humphrey B. Bear, Elmo and the Cookie Monster.”
