COLAC teenagers can have their say on the services they want in the city’s new Youth Health Hub.
Colac Area Health is building the $1.2-million health and wellbeing centre this year, and is surveying young people to find out their health needs.
CAH health promotion officer Lauren Fitzgerald said she had visited secondary schools across the district to explain the youth health needs assessment.
“The survey gives young people a chance to shape the Youth Health Hub, including what services might be offered and even aspects of the building’s art and design,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
“So I’ve travelled around talking to the students about the voluntary survey and the consent process, and now they have their chance to share their views,” she said.
She said the survey would help Colac Area Health understand how young people perceived their health as
well as the barriers that prevented them from accessing services.
The survey aims to target at least 360 young people aged between 12 and 25.
People can access the online survey at Colac Area Health’s website.
