Thieves steal Buddha statue

Thieves have stolen a Buddha statue from Apollo Bay.

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after the theft of a statue from a residential property in Apollo Bay.

Investigators believe more than one offender cut a chain on a gate to gain access to a Tuxion Road property between 19 November and 22 November.

A Buddha statue, which is about two metres tall and made of heavy stone, was then removed.

Police believe it would take at least two adults to move the statue and a utility to transport the statue.

The statue has sentimental value for its owner.

Police are urging anyone with any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au
