New school at last for coast students

Apollo Bay P-12 College president is delighted the school will receive $6.3 million for a much-needed upgrade.

APOLLO BAY will finally get a new school after years of campaigning.

The State Government’s annual budget has allocated Apollo Bay P-12 College with $6.3 million for a much-needed upgrade.

School council president John Tallis said he was ecstatic to receive the news.

“We’re ecstatic obviously, and we’re looking forward to actually getting building process behind us,” Mr Tallis said.

“It’s huge relief, we’re all working in the same direction, I’m absolutely rapt,” he said.

Member for Polwarth Terry Mulder promised the upgrade at the 2010 election.

“I’ve had a discussion already with the school council president and principal of the school and they are over the moon,” Mr Mulder said after the Treasurer Michael O’Brien delivered the budget yesterday.

“And I look forward to visiting the school over the next couple of weeks to discuss the works,” he said.
