Hungry thieves hit restaurant

HUNGRY thieves have stolen packaged meat from an Apollo Bay restaurant over the weekend.

Colac Criminal Investigation Unit’s Detective Jonas Todd said the offenders “jimmied” the back door of the Great Ocean Road restaurant.

Det Todd said the thieves also stole alcohol and money from a tips jar in the burglary about midnight Friday.

Police are appealing to witnesses who might have seen the break-in or a car in the vicinity of the restaurant at the time.

Meanwhile, Warrnambool’s Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating the theft and burning of a vehicle at Jancourt East, west of Colac, last week.

Detective First Constable Jeremy Allen said thieves stole a 2008 red Toyota Hilux from a Bookar address, north of Camperdown, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“The vehicle was set on fire deliberately – and we’re appealing for anyone who might have seen a 2008 Red Hilux in the Camperdown and Cobden areas in the early hours of Wednesday morning,” Det Allen said.

“And anyone that might have seen a late model green Holden commodore around Cobden-Lavers Hill road at the same time,” he said.
