Man dies in logging accident

A COLAC man died yesterday after a tree fell on him at a logging coupe in the Otways.

The 54-year-old man, a tree feller, was working at the Gellibrand East property, off Old Beech Forest Road, when the incident happened.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said emergency services received a call to attend the incident about 10am.

Colac police, ambulance paramedics, Colac State Emergency Service volunteers and Victorian WorkCover Authority investigators attended.

The Victorian WorkCover Authority is investigating the workplace incident.

    We were so sorry to hear this news as Dave was a lovely guy. Such a shame this should happen to him when he was such a hard working man.
