Youth admits torching car

A youth surrendered to police after the theft and torching of Leanne Rodgers’ car.

A CAMPERDOWN teenager surrendered himself to police for his part in stealing and torching a car.

Police cautioned the 15-year-old after he admitted to setting fire to a Suzuki belonging to Cressy cancer fundraiser Leanne Rodgers.

Mrs Rodgers told the Colac Hearld about her disbelief while she watched her car burn in Lawrence Street, Camperdown, last month.

Senior Constable Tony Hassett of Camperdown police said police were seeking another two males in relation to the incident.

“A 15-year-old Camperdown lad has been cautioned in relation to the theft of a motor vehicle,” he said.

“He surrendered himself to police and we’re still seeking two other males.

“We’re seeking public assistance in helping identify the two other males in relation to it.”
