No one did Bill, but I didn’t want people to think that I was a Labor party hack.

  2. @Phil,Who said that you were a member of the ALP anyway?

Not that anyone cares, but for the record I am not and never have been a member of the Labor Party, however this story only confirms the fact that the Liberal party doesn’t give a toss for the most vulnerable in our society.
For those of you smug in your well off lives, ask the question what is going to happen to these kids?

  4. Not sure you can help kids who can’t even put a cap on the right way

    1. That’s a very facetious comment about a very serious issue, and extremely disrespectful to the young people who were kind enough to pose for the photograph.

Youth connections is an amazing program. I have seen young people go from being completely disengaged from school with limited job prospects and their motivation at sublevels, to education blossoming into employable and employed yougn people with self esteem and drive. Pretty disapointing for the young people and for the staff dedicated to this program. Sorry but another branch of ‘job services’ isnt going to cut it or record a %80 success rate.

Youth Connections is SO valuable and necessary at the very time these disengaged young people need Youth Connections the most. Sorry Ms Henderson but what exactly can a JSA worker do to help this cohort in the 10 minutes alloted to them fortnightly? JSA workers are directed not to address their barriers and have 4 weeks to get them into work – but what if there are no jobs in the regional areas for them to go to? Fantastic to hear about all the higher education financial support but the kids Youth Connections work with are lucky to have completed year 8, some are in grade 6! Who will help them Ms Henderson???
