Apollo Bay could be set for another bumper tuna season with anglers flocking to the coastal town this week.

Apollo Bay Surf-N-Fish’s Michael Edwards said one angler caught a southern bluefin tuna weighing 134 kilograms at the start of the week.

Mr Edwards said he’d seen at least 50 trailers in the car park near the town’s jetty on Wednesday as anglers searched for tuna in Apollo Bay Harbour.

“Down in the car park it’s been chock-a-block,” Mr Edwards said.

“They’re all out there early and it has the potential to be big like last year.”
