An elaborate online scam has cost a Colac man more than $100 to restore his computer but he knows he’s lucky to still have money in the bank.
Colac’s Phil Edge, pictured with Coltek Computers’ technician Quinn Prigg, came close to being a victim of a complex scam and knows he is fortunate that fraudsters only managed to wipe his computer, not take his money. Mr Edge faced issues after people claiming to be technicians asked him to install software on his computer.
