Pop star thrills college crowd

Apollo Bay P-12 students Cat Richardson, Tristan Smith and Ella Summers enjoyed a Guy Sebastian concert which the school won through Yamaha’s 100K Band Give Away.

Music star Guy Sebastian wowed Apollo Bay P-12 College students and community members at a school concert this week.

The college successfully applied to Yamaha’s nationwide $100K Yamaha Band Giveaway which includes a prize of $90,000 of Yamaha instruments, a launch concert at the school featuring Guy Sebastian, three days’ training from Dr Rob McWilliams, Australia’s leading band expert and Yamaha Education Outreach clinician.

College principal Tiffany Holt said Guy Sebastian’s performance on Wednesday was “awesome” and that students, community members and staff enjoyed the hour-long concert.

“He was awesome with the kids, he had the kids up and dancing, he really was fantastic and he sounded amazing,” she said.

“It was just a buzz and even the people from Yamaha were saying it was a great atmosphere.

“There were just laughs and smiles and even some of our kids were crying, it was a real event.”
