The good news has continued for Otway Districts with senior football coaches Tom Mullane-Grant and Zach Hickleton re-committing for a third season in 2018.
Head coach Mullane-Grant and assistant coach Hickleton have taken the Demons from a 10th-placed finish in 2015 to be currently tied in sixth spot with one round remaining in their second season in charge, having won seven games this year.
The team had won eight games total in the five seasons before.
Demons president Ross Panther said the club was excited to have the pair commit for another season.
“We’re rapt to have them back on board,” he said.
“The whole committee was keen for them to go again, we just needed to make sure Tom was able to make the commitment with his young family.
“Because when Tom commits to something, he really commits, he wanted to make sure he could give it his all.”
Mullane-Grant and Hickleton, both playing coaches, have each played key on-field roles during the Demons’ rise in recent months.
Mullane-Grant is on track to win his second straight Otway Districts goalkicking award, having bagged 54 for the season, ranked second in the league, while Hickleton would be a contender for the club’s best-and-fairest award following a dominant season in defence.
He has polled a team-high 18 Colac Herald MVP votes as voted by opposition coaches, ranking him equal fifth.
Mr Panther said the club announced the re-appointment to the playing group and club members after training on Thursday.
