More Hawks set to depart

Apollo Bay’s Ryan Rich, who was runner-up in the Hawks’ best-and-fairest this season, has joined East Geelong.

Apollo Bay Football Club officials are remaining positive despite the loss of two more key players.

The Hawks runner-up best-and-fairest Ryan Rich and gun forward Tyler Jones are both set to join clubs in the Geelong district league.

Rich has joined fellow former Hawks Chris Hilet, Sam Lowe, Jayden Fanning and Michael Condon at East Geelong, while Jones has committed to Bel-mont.

Rich starred across half back in his first year at the club, ranking among the Bay’s best players nine times in his 15 games.

Jones booted 36 goals in 18 games during the past two seasons.

Apollo Bay secretary John Lugg said while it was disappointing to lose the talented duo, the recent departures would just provide more opportunities for the club’s up-and-coming players.

“We’ve got our new coach Brent and his brother Jackson Macleod on board and they’re very good footballers, and hopefully we’ll have a couple more recruits to announce soon,” he said.
