Former Roo impressing at new club

Playing alongside her school mates at new club Irrewarra-Beeac has led young gun Rachael Seabright to have a breakout season. The Bombers take on Apollo Bay in tomorrow’s final game.

Irrewarra-Beeac recruit Rachael Seabright says her years of playing under respected Colac district netball goaler Nicole Mitchell have benefited her at her new club.

Seabright has been one of the star performers in a young Bombers side this season, after crossing from South Colac to join mates at Irrewarra-Beeac.

The 17-year-old has ranked among the Bombers’ best players eight times, and netted 195 goals in her role as goal attack.

The breakout season earned her a spot in the Colac district’s senior interleague side for the first time, back in May.

“It’s been really good,” Seabright said of her first season at Irrewarra-Beeac.

“Everyone’s been so supportive to me and my family that I feel like I’ve been there my whole life,” she said.

“I came across to play with one of my best mates, Beth Marwood, but I’m also doing Year 12 at Trinity with Jeremi Robinson and Nour Alkurd, and I’ve loved playing with those girls.”

Seabright had been balancing senior and junior netball for the past three years at South Colac, and playing regular A Grade netball with the Roos the past two.
