Colac footballer George Steven could become the latest Tiger to crack into the VFL after receiving a pre-season invitation from Williamstown.
Tigers coach Kane Leersen confirmed Steven, 21, would relocate from Lorne to Melbourne, and join the Seagulls to vie for a spot on their list in 2019.
If successful, the tall midfielder would join fellow Tiger Cooper Stephens who has already signed on for a second year with Williamstown next year following six VFL games in 2018.
Steven has notched up 47 Geelong Football League senior games with Colac since debuting in 2015, but managed just five this year due to injuries.
But Leersen said the Seagulls saw potential in the former Geelong Falcon, who is also the younger brother of AFL jet Jack Steven.
“George is doing a pre-season at Williamstown, that’s an opportunity that’s popped up for him,” Leersen said.
“If he completes a pre-season, and gets his running capacity at a level it needs to be, then he’d be a great prospect, I don’t think there’s ever been any doubting his football ability,” he said.
