South Colac has landed one of the biggest names of the Colac district football off-season, with former Colac Tigers captain Dan Jeffreys returning to the club.

The Roos announced this week that Jeffreys, who has lived in London since 2011, and former Colac footballer and Birregurra premiership forward Nick Lynch had both signed with the Roos for the 2019 season.

Jeffreys returns to South Colac as a one-point player having played juniors with the club, featuring in the Roos’ 2002 senior premiership side as a teenager.

The former Geelong Falcon then spent time with VFL club Werribee before joining the Colac Tigers, where he last played senior football in 2011 before moving to London.

The 2007 Ted Parker Medallist played in the AFL London competition during his time overseas, featuring in a premiership alongside South Colac coach Josh Black and fellow Roo David Dunne in 2013.

“We’re pretty pumped to have Dan and Nick on board,” Black said.

“Dan’s just moved back to Australia and he’s going to be living in Melbourne but he’s committed to travel back and play for us,” he said.

“I reckon he’s going to be a really good player for us, he controls the tempo, he’s a good leader, a good ball user and he’s quite experienced.

“We were chasing another inside midfielder and Dan’s as tough as they come.”
