Police call on witnesses

A man is in a stable condition after crashing his vehicle at Forrest on Sunday.

Colac police are appealing for information about a single-vehicle crash at Forrest.

Colac Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Jamie Kahle said police were investigating speed as a factor in Sunday’s crash and the possibility of racing.

A man was travelling south on the Birregurra-Forrest Road when he lost control of his vehicle near the Colac-Forrest Road intersection at Forrest and crashed into a tree.

The man was driving a white Renault Megane, which had red detailing.

The crash occurred on a section of road which has a speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour.

An air ambulance flew the man to the Royal Melbourne Hospital. The crash closed the Birregurra-Forrest Road for about seven hours.

If the state govt wanted a bit more revenue, they should consider a fixed speed camera on the road between Forrest and Skenes Creek as there are a few drivers who won’t heed the speed limit, tail gate and cross over double lines. This is a dangerous road, but some drivers make it more so!
