Stallions star’s flying visit leads to T20 triumph

Colac’s Aidan Spence had an impressive week of cricket for the Stallions during a quick visit home from a stint in England. Spence backed up a Division Two ton with a wicket and 39 not out in a Twenty20.

A flying visit from gun cricketer Aidan Spence has helped Colac secure its first Twenty20 win of the summer.

Spence made a brief return home from his overseas stint in England, and played in a Division Two match and Tuesday night’s T20 against Warrion.

He backed up his eye-catching century in a lower-grade contest with Tomahawk Creek last Saturday with an unbeaten knock of 37 to guide the Stallions across the line in a T20.

Spence also took a wicket as Colac restricted Warrion to 124 and chased down the total with nine wickets remaining and 28 balls to spare.

Colac leader Alex White said Spence’s return was only brief, with the former captain set to fly back to England after heading to Adelaide to watch Colac export Aaron Finch battle India for Australia in the first Test of the summer, which started yesterday.

“He’s in Adelaide for the Test and then he’s gone again next week,” he said.
