The Colac Tigers have landed one the Colac district’s premier onballers, with Jack Mahoney Medallist Liam McGuane signing with the club.
The 26-year-old Alvie footballer, who won the Colac district league’s best-and-fairest award in 2016, will join the Geelong Football League club after just one season as co-coach of the Swans.
McGuane has been training with the Tigers since pre-season training began in early November, but told the Colac Herald he was undecided where he would play due to impending travel plans.
McGuane said this week he was looking forward to focusing on his own football without the added responsibility of coaching.
“I took a bit of time to think it over, and I was enjoying my training while I was there,” McGuane said.
“With Joe Dare taking over as Alvie coach it seemed like a good chance to do my own thing,” he said.
