New Alvie assistant coach Angus Uwland says an experience with the Greater Western Victoria Rebels sparked his desire to try coaching.
Uwland, 24, has crossed to the Swans with new coach Joe Dare from Hampden league club Cobden, where Uwland notched up 100 senior games and earned Team of the Year honours in 2017.
Work commitments at CMTP brought Uwland to Colac last year.
“I was travelling from Cobden all last year to work in Colac, so I made the move to Colac late last year and it just made sense to play footy in the town I live in,” he said.
“I didn’t know many people around Colac so I thought getting involved in a footy club here would be a good idea, and it worked out with Joe taking on the coaching role at Alvie.
“I know Joe, his history and how he operates, so that made it pretty enticing to come across.
