Former Imps coach to boost Birregurra

Former Colac Imperials assistant coach Andrew Scott has signed with Birregurra after spending the past five years in the Northern Territory.

Former Colac Imperials assistant coach Andrew Scott is set to team up with new brother-in-law Sean O’Neill at Birregurra this season.

New Saints coach Ricky O’Toole confirmed the key tall had committed to Birregurra, while O’Neill’s brother and another former Imperial Tom O’Neill had also committed to play all year.

Scott and the O’Neill brothers played a key role in the Imps’ 2013 Colac district league grand final side, before Scott moved to the Northern Territory the following year.

“We’re rapt to have Andrew on board, he’s exactly what we needed; another key post who can play forward and back, or in the ruck,” O’Toole said.

“He hasn’t missed a session so far, he trains really hard and he’s fitting in well with the boys,” he said.

O’Toole said Scott was eager to play alongside O’Neill, who has recently married Scott’s sister and star netballer Rebecca Scott, since returning to Victoria.

Andrew Scott started his football career with the Imps before stints with the Geelong Falcons and the Colac Tigers.
