Otway Districts coach Zach Hickleton says the club wasn’t going to stand in the way of Dylan Clissold testing himself in the Geelong Football League this year.
Hickleton said the reigning CDFL Max Gray Medallist confirmed this week he had committed to the Colac Tigers for the 2019 campaign.
Clissold’s departure is a double-blow for the Demons, who are preparing for the season without Paddy Ryan after Birregurra officials confirmed the talented youngster had crossed to the Saints.
They join reigning best-and-fairest Alex Burnett and last year’s CDFL leading goalkicker Tom Mullane-Grant as key departures ahead of the club’s 2019 campaign.
But the Demons had some positive news to celebrate, securing a ruckman, Simpson product Rangi Vickers, and former Thomson wingman Cooper Brown.
Hickleton, who is preparing for his first season as Otway’s standalone coach, said Clissold found it hard leaving his home club after training with both the Demons and Tigers over the summer.
