Colac’s Goonan family has plenty to be thankful for this Good Friday.
Three-year-old Noah Goonan has bounced back after having his third and final open-heart surgery earlier this year, and his mother says he’s got more energy than ever.
“He’s great, full of beans,” Rhiannon Goonan said.
“We’d probably only been home from Melbourne for a couple of weeks and he actually walked 1.6 kilometres, whereas before that he’d only be able to walk about 500 metres.”
Noah was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which impacts the development of the left side of his heart, but the expert attention of the Royal Children’s Hospital’s top-notch cardiologists and the unwavering dedication of his family across nearly four years has helped him to find plenty of ticker.
Rhiannon said Noah would be back at the hospital for a review this week, but they were just glad the uncertainty and the waiting for surgeries were all over.
