Hawk in doubt after fracture

Gun Apollo Bay onballer Baden Dodd is set to miss this weekend’s blockbuster Coastal Cup clash with Lorne after fracturing his thumb in the Hawks’ win against Colac Imperials.

Hawks coach Brent Macleod said he was uncertain of the extent of the damage suffered during the second term of the 12.8 (80) to 8.14 (62) victory on Saturday.

He said Dodd, who joined the Hawks from Geelong Amateur this season, was seeing a specialist yesterday when the Colac Herald went to print.

The strongly-built midfielder had ranked among the Hawks’ best in his debut with the club a week earlier.

“It was dislocated and fractured, but we’re not sure if it will need surgery or anything, we’re finding out now,” Macleod said yesterday.
