Apollo Bay will face a tribunal this week to contest a two-match suspension offered to a star recruit.
Umpires cited forward Damien Zaparenkov for allegedly charging South Colac’s Justin Mooney in the second quarter of the Hawks’ 9.7 (61) to 10.8 (68) loss to the Roos.
Hawks secretary John Lugg confirmed officials had offered Zaparenkov a two-week set penalty, but the Hawks rejected the offer and will take their case to the tribunal this week.
Apollo Bay takes on Otways Districts and Alvie in its next two games.
The Hawks almost upstaged South Colac on the Roos’ home ground on Saturday, holding a three-goal lead early in the final quarter before the home side hit back.
