Busy schedule paying off for young Hawk

It’s six rounds into the season and Apollo Bay’s Joel Cooper has already played 16 games of football.

Apollo Bay’s Joel Cooper earned the best-on-ground medal in the Colac district league’s under-15 interleague win.

And the young onballer is reaping the benefits.

Last year’s Colac district league under-14.5 best-and-fairest winner has split the start of the season between Apollo Bay and the Colac Tigers, featuring in the Hawks’ under-15 and under-18 teams on Saturdays and Tigers’ under-15 team on Sundays.

The extra football – in the higher standard of AFL Barwon and against bigger bodies in the under-18s – has helped Cooper take his game to new heights, and on Saturday in his 16th game of football for the year he earned the best-on-ground medal in the Colac district league’s under-15 interleague victory.

“I’m playing a bit of football at the moment but I’m enjoying it,” Cooper said.
