Colac district league junior best-and-fairest winner Jal Makuey will follow in the footsteps of former teammate Luke Lloyd when he makes his Geelong Falcons debut this weekend.

Makuey is in his first year in the Falcons’ NAB League program as an overage player, following a breakout season with Alvie last year which earned him the under-17.5 Colac district league medal.

Falcons coach Luke Daffy confirmed the 18-year-old would feature in the Falcons’ side for Sunday’s clash with the Sydney Swans Academy at Sandringham.

“Jal Makuey will play his first game this weekend which is really exciting for us,” Daffy said.

“Jal hadn’t been in the program before this year, but he’s had a brilliant pre-season and he’ll get an opportunity to play his first game,” he said.

“We’re a big believer that players develop at different times, and Jal is definitely one of those, we feel like there’s still a lot of scope for his football.
