Vic Country selectors have named the 15-year-old key-position player in the state’s under-16 squad for the NAB AFL Women’s Under-16 Championships.

Selectors will reduce the 26-player squad to teams of 22 for the matches, which will take place in June.

Vic Country will take on Vic Metro in its first match on June 22 at Avalon Airport Oval.

Featherston follows in the footsteps of fellow Geelong Falcon and Colac Imperials footballer Darcy Moloney, who earned selection in Vic Country’s under-18 squad last week.

Featherston earned her call-up following a breakout NAB League Girls season with the Falcons as a bottom-bottom-aged player.

She averaged 8.4 disposals, two tackles and 1.2 inside-50s in her five games this year, and played a role in the ruck during the team’s semi-final loss to Calder on the weekend.
