Swans sweat on knee injuries

Alvie footballers bounced back from their shock loss to Colac Imperials in emphatic fashion on Saturday, taking down Colac district football reigning premier Lorne. But the win came at a cost, with two young Swans suffering knee injuries, including Dean McGuane, pictured left.

Knee injuries to Alvie footballers Dean McGuane and Zac Parker have put a dampener on the Swans’ big win against reigning premier Lorne.

The Swans staged one of the biggest turnarounds in Colac district football, bouncing back from a shock loss to Colac Imperials to beat the flag favourites on Saturday, 12.6 (78) to 9.17 (71).

But the win came at a cost, with defender McGuane and new midfielder Parker both finishing the match on the sidelines following injuries.

Swans assistant coach Angus Uwland said the club was yet to learn the severity of the two injuries until the players had scans this week.

They join fellow defender Spencer Williamson, ruptured ACL, on the sidelines with knee injuries.

“Both Dean and Zac came off in the third quarter with knee injuries,” Uwland said.

“It’s still too early to tell how bad they are, they’ll both have to go in for scans but we’re hoping for some good news,” he said.
