Irrewarra-Beeac co-coach Jaden Angus says skipper Dylan Flanigan will still remain involved with the playing group this year despite his season-ending knee injury.
The active 25-year-old suffered the injury in the Bombers’ round seven clash with Lorne, with follow-up scans confirming he had ruptured his ACL.
“He hurt his knee in the third quarter, he was just kicking around a corner and someone hit it to the side,” Angus said.
“He went and saw a physio during the week and they told him it was an ACL,” he said.
Angus said it was a cruel blow for the in-form Bomber, who had ranked among Irrewarra-Beeac’s best players five of his seven games.
“It’s pretty disappointing for him, especially with all the work he’s put in,” he said.
“He’s captain this year, and he’s made a big effort to lead the group, he was involved with recruiting, he’s been playing good footy and had earned a spot in the midfield.
“So we’re all pretty devastated.”
