Mid-year boost for premiers

Sam Stavenuiter and Dan Roy.

Colac district football’s reigning premier Lorne has gotten even stronger with Dan Roy and Sam Stavenuiter making their long-awaited returns to the team.

Star midfielder Roy played his first game with the club since 2016, returning after a stint with Ballarat league club Darley.

A serious knee injury sidelined him for the first half of season, but Dolphins coach Jack Hollmer said Roy made a successful return in the Dolphins’ 22.16 (148) to 7.3 (45) win over the Western Eagles.

Lorne’s former coach and key forward Stavenuiter suited up for his first game since last year’s grand final win, after work commitments restricted him in the first half of the year.
