Kinder renovations hit contruction snag

Colac Otway Shire Council has halted the renovation of Colac’s Winifred Nance Kindergarten as it awaits an engineer’s report.

Colac’s Winifred Nance Kindergarten community is waiting for answers from authorities following an indefinite delay to the reopening of the learning centre.

Barwon Child, Youth and Family manages the kindergarten and notified parents in a letter that a refurbishment had hit a snag and it was awaiting further details before construction could recommence.

Parents had contacted the Colac Herald before the letter was sent and said they were concerned at the slow progress of works and the apparent lack of transparency from BCYF and Colac Otway Shire Council, which oversees the renovation.

The kindergarten’s renovation began in February and children relocated to nearby Colac West Primary School as construction moved into its final phase at the end of the past school term.
