The Colac Herald is officially one of the most outstanding newspapers in country Victoria.
The Herald won the Award for Overall Newspaper Excellence at the Victorian Country Press Association’s annual awards on Friday night, beating newspapers from across the state in its circulation category.
The award recognises the Herald’s consistent excellence in journalism, photography, advertising and design.
Judges looked at a selection of editions from throughout the 2018-19 financial year when assessing award entries.
The Herald’s awards entry focused on the organisation’s work to truly represent the people of Colac and district, rather than merely report on them.
The judge commented on the Herald’s willingness to devote space to positive news and human-interest articles.
Colac Herald proprietor Andrea Graham said the award was a testament to the talent, skill and dedication of the Colac Herald’s team.
“This award acknowledges every facet of the Colac Herald, from the advertising to the journalism, photography and design,” she said.
