The Colac District Football Netball League has awarded four champion netballers with life membership following a landmark decision at last night’s annual general meeting.
The league has announced it would now award all netballers who have played 300 A Grade games in the league with life membership, as it does with footballers who have played 300 games.
Chairman Peter Hickey said the league would recognise Irrewarra-Beeac’s Jenny Hillman and Narelle Frith, Alvie’s Sharon Hickey, and Western Eagles’ Jenny Fish at next year’s end-of-year celebration.
Meanwhile, Mr Hickey said representative football would definitely not go ahead next year, after plans to find an opposition fell through.
“No one’s interested for next year, so we’re aiming for 2021,” he said.
“It could be something we run every two years.”
Mr Hickey said the league was set to release its 2020 fixture tomorrow, with an Anzac Day clash under lights between Lorne and Irrewarra-Beeac at Lorne locked in.
“Simpson and Birre are still working to host an Anzac Day clash as well, but they’ve still got a bit of work to do,” he said.
Lorne is also set to host Alvie on the Easter weekend.
