Super Series awaits district young guns

Colac district product Sophie Walker, 15, will represent a Melbourne Renegades country outfit in the under-17 Youth Premier League Super Series next week. Sienna Mallon and Henry Melville will also feature in the tournament.

Cressy cricket rising star Sophie Walker is gearing up for another chance to put her name forward for state honours after earning selection in a Youth Premier League Super Series.

Walker and fellow Colac district product Sienna Mallon will head to Melbourne next week to represent Melbourne Renegades underage girls’ country sides.

Mallon will play in the under-14 ranks, while 15-year-old Walker is gearing up to take on Victoria’s best under-17 cricketers and Colac’s Henry Melville will represent a male under-16 team in the series.

They were selected for the Renegades squads after standout individual performances with Barwon in the recent Youth Premier League and will play a round robin against Melbourne Stars country and metro outfits and a Renegades city side.

Mallon finished second on the run scorers list for the Rockettes last week, producing a top score of 30, while she also took four wickets and showcased her all-rounder status by sharing wicketkeeping duties as a co-captain of the side.
