Colac Tigers’ netball season will begin away from Central Reserve due to a delay to the venue’s netball court redevelopment.
Colac Otway Shire Council confirmed it was in discussions with the club to relocate training to Eastern Reserve during an $800,000 project for a netball court resurfacing and lighting upgrade at the club’s home.
The club will also work to find a suitable location to host 11 netball matches and the necessary changing rooms and administrative infrastructure.
The council has targeted May 4 for the project’s completion date, a month after the season starts.
Colac hosts St Mary’s on April 4 and South Barwon on April 18 in the first two rounds of the Geelong Football Netball League season and faces the prospect of playing football and netball fixtures at separate venues on those dates.
Colac Otway Shire Council officer Tony McGann said the council was excited to see the project completed and was making contingencies for the delay.
