Most of Colac Otway Shire’s active COVID-19 cases are centred on Colac and Elliminyt, but other places in the region also have cases.
The Department of Health and Human Services yesterday released postcode-level data to media outlets, breaking down where there are active cases.
The data was previously only available at a shire-wide level.
The figures, as of Friday, listed 69 cases in the 3250 postcode, which takes in Colac, Elliminyt, Colac East and Colac West.
Postcode 3249 had five active cases. This area surrounds Colac, and includes Barongarook, Alvie, Coragulac, Irrewarra, Swan Marsh and other rural localities.

Postcode 3232 had two active cases. This area includes Lorne.
There was one case in each of postcodes 3233 (Apollo Bay, Skenes Creek, Cape Otway), 3251 (Beeac and surrounds) and 3254 (Cororooke).
The DHHS is constantly reviewing and refining its case numbers, and figures are subject to change. That is why numbers might differ from day to day, or even throughout a day. But they give an overall picture of the spread of the virus.
