Active case numbers fall in Colac Otway

UPDATE 3.25pm

DHHS has updated its website to list three new total cases in Colac Otway.

The change in figures indicates there have been five new recoveries in the past 24 hours and three new cases.

State health authorities have added three COVID-19 cases to Colac Otway’s overall tally, but active cases numbers are falling.

Today’s DHHS update lists 20 active cases in Colac Otway, down from 22 in yesterday’s report.

But today’s report also lists 136 total cases in Colac Otway since the pandemic began, three more than yesterday.

The report lists 10 active cases linked to Bulla Dairy Foods in Colac, out of 20 total, and eight active cases linked to Wydinia kindergarten, out of 16 total. These case numbers include close contacts, so aren’t all employees of those sites.

Victoria has recorded 42 new cases of coronavirus since yesterday, with 991 active cases.

Thirty-seven cases are active in regional areas.

There have been eight new deaths from COVID-19 reported since yesterday. Four women and two men aged in their 80s and two men aged in their 90s. Six of the deaths occurred before yesterday.

Greater Geelong has three active cases, Greater Bendigo has one active case and Ballarat has no active cases.

Warrnambool has fallen to zero active cases, and there are zero cases in Corangamite, Surf Coast and Golden Plains.
