Second Bulla employee tests positive

Another Bulla employee has tested positive to COVID-19, throwing the business’s plan to re-open its Connor Street facility into doubt.

The new confirmed case was one of the four close contacts of an employee that worked while infectious last week. Bulla received the test result yesterday afternoon.

The other three close contacts have all returned negative results this morning.

Bulla is now in further discussions with DHHS, with the site closed until further notice. The company also said it anticipates the extended closure would affect its production and product supply.

Bulla chief Allan Hood released the following statement in response to the test:

Where To Buy

We have unfortunately had a second team member at our Connor Street, Colac site, return a positive test for Coronavirus (COVID-19) late yesterday.

“Our remaining three team members who were awaiting their test results have all now received negative results.

“At this stage, we are working through required next steps with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Connor Street will remain closed until further notice.

“Both individuals are currently recovering at home and we will continue to do everything we can to support them along with the wider team during this time. During the site’s temporary closure, all employees will be paid as per their normal roster.

“We anticipate that this continued closure will have some impact on the production and supply of our frozen ranges. We are working with our customers to keep them informed and will do our best to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.”

“On behalf of the Bulla family we thank everyone for their wishes and kind messages of support through this difficult time. We’ll be providing another update to you all this evening.”
