Coaches back call for extra player

A growing number of injuries in the Colac district league, believed to be a result of the year off football in 2020, has prompted calls for the competition to revert back to a 22-player competition. Among the league’s injured players are Lorne’s Jack Hollmer, South Colac’s Tom Simpkin and Alvie’s Kaden Newton.

Eight coaches from the Colac district league’s 10 clubs have thrown their support behind calls for the senior competition to return to 22 players per side as injury numbers continue to skyrocket.
