Detectives are appealing for dashcam footage as they continue to investigate a crash that killed a Cobden man at Simpson last night.

Police from the Major Collision Investigation Unit believe a Suzuki camper van and a Holden Commodore collided on Lavers Hill-Cobden Road about 7.45pm.

The passenger of the Commodore, a 26-year-old Cobden man, died at the scene.

The driver of the Commodore, a 24-year-old Colac man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the camper van, a 19-year-old German national, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where he remains under police guard.

Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of the crash and police are asking anyone who was driving in the area near the time of the collision to check their dashcam footage.
