Colac and district schools return to class today after almost two months’ summer holidays.
Today will be an extra special day for more than 260 Colac and district Year Seven students who start their first day of secondary school.
One-hundred and thirty-five Year Sevens will start at Colac Trinity College and 130 students at Colac Secondary College.
Trinity College school principal Tim O’Farrell said this year’s Year Seven intake was the biggest in the college’s history.
Mr O’Farrell said he was pleased to have 770 students starting the school year and said he looked forward to the year ahead, the theme of which was “be the opportunity.”
Colac Secondary College’s acting principal Simon Dewar said the school had 750 students for 2011.
