A firefighting helicopter Helitack 347 is set to return to Colac district next month.

COLAC will be the base of a water-bombing helicopter this summer, despite a State Government cut to Victoria’s firefighting aircraft fleet.

A light shower couldn’t dampen the spirits of the Colac City Band yesterday.

The band played a concert at the Lake Colac Foreshore rotunda from 2pm to celebrate 160 years of the Colac Botanic Gardens.

The gardens were established in 1865, with 2025 marking the 160th year since the land overlooking Lake Colac was set aside “at the call of the people”.

COLAC IS GETTING A DOG PARK 🐶

The State Government has announced $225,000 for a dog park at Colac's Central Reserve.

The Colac City Reserves Master Plan has set aside land in the north east of the precinct and the project would include a dog obedience training ground, club shed and a fenced off-lead dog park.
