BARGAIN hunters have made the most of Colac’s annual three-hour sale.
Colac retailers said they were pleased with the response as shoppers inspected the sales at more than 70 businesses.
Simply Perfect Pieces owner Helen Woodmason said the sale attracted crowds from the state firefighting championships, which was at Colac’s showgrounds.
“I’d say that having the firefighting championships on at the same time actually helped us, because people were coming up to have a look at the shops as well,” Ms Woodmason said.
“And that gave shops the opportunity to have people from Colac as well as people from out of town,” she said.
Ms Woodmason said the annual sale, in its fourth year, had become a fixture on the city’s shopping calendar.
“We were expecting it to be big and it was, we had three times as many staff on as we would usually have because it gets busy,” she said.
Colac Cinemas manager Pauline Price said movie fans lined up to take advantage of the sale.
“We were offering a good deal so once again we had people lining up and we sold out just before 12,” Ms Price said.
“The whole sale was a huge success.”
